I’m Anthony
Iraq 2009-2010. Afghanistan 2011-2012.
I came home and put my pistol to my head more times than I can count.
I’m only here because I refused to give up.
Now I’m paying it back. One phone call, one rent check, one life at a time.22 times today a family will get that knock.
22 mothers will scream when they open the door.
22 kids will never hear “I’m home” again.Most of them don’t want to die.
They just ran out of rent money.
Or the power got cut.
Or nobody answered at 3 a.m. when the ghosts showed up.I know. I was seconds away from being one of the 22. The loneliness and long nights of no sleep and the lack of wanting to continue. I found peace through time and so can all of us.Change the Count aims to provide 12 straight months of rent,
bills, groceries, gas — and a combat vet who actually picks up when the ghosts come knockin. I have personally gone through this process. I have guided many of my fellow veterans through this process.
12 months
-Provide vet to vet care and benefits assisitance
-Introduction to the VA
-setup doctors appts (most vets havent gone to the doctor in years)
-Substance abuse treatment (if needed)
-potential medication can take months to get dosages correctly.
-Housing Assistance
-Resume building
and the most important! CONSISTENCY.Most veterans get help for 30-45 days and then get dropped and told we will see you in 4 months.
Our Veterans deserve the best.
